Rescue:
One dark and rainy night, close to midnight, one of our volunteers heard a cat crying outside
her home. Looking out her front window she saw this chunky brown tabby boy, with his back to
the front door crying. As it had been raining for days, the only dry spot he could find to sit, was
on the door mat. Our volunteer gently opened the door, he was mildly startled, looked back at
her and trotted about ten feet away. He continued to cry and ask for help, eventually letting her
approach him. By this time he was soaking wet and welcomed a gentle touch and then was
easily picked up and brought into the house. Calling him Dougie, he was put in the bathroom
for the night with warm towels, plenty of food and fresh water. He calmed down immediately,
grateful for the comfort and warmth. He is pretty special as he is polydactyl meaning he has
extra toes on his front feet that resemble mittens. Pet Patrol was notified of this friendly boy;
he was not neutered and did not have a microchip, and no idea where he may have come
from. He is safe now without a worry in the world
Personality:
Such a sweet boy, Dougie has fit right into the sanctuary without an incident. He is a calm,
cool and laid back dude who is enjoying every aspect of being inside. He was so worried
while out on the street and it seems he could not understand how he came to be in that situation. So sad. This cute boy readily meets people at the door, is friendly and affectionate with
anyone and he gets along well with the other cats. He can be easily picked up and cuddled,
carried and is a great lap cat. He is just wonderful and we are so happy to have him in Pet
Patrol’s care. Dougie is ready to be adopted into his forever home. One that will welcome
him into the family and keep him safely indoors.
