Rescue:

A woman who has rescued a number of cats from her area, about 45 minutes from the
sanctuary, told Pet Patrol about a couple in their early sixties who needed to rehome some of
their cats. Although their house looks tidy from outside, upon entering it she found definite
signs of hoarding: the house was crowded with furniture and objects, with narrow pathways
between, and every surface had something on it. There was a strong pungent smell
everywhere, and about thirty cats and kittens, including Genie who was very pregnant at the
time. There were empty cat food and water dishes around the house, evidence that the cats
were not being fed regularly. The couple is living on an extremely limited income and were not
buying cat food or cleaning up after the cats. The rescuer left bags of food to help, but knew
that the cats needed to be taken out of the situation. She drove through a blizzard to bring
Genie and her sister Goldie safely to the sanctuary. Soon afterwards Genie had her five
kittens, Gizmo and Groot being two of them.

Personality:

Gizmo and Groot can often be found wrestling, having games of Tag and catch the laser pen
light. They are bonded brothers that would love to be adopted together. They are often found
sleeping together in the big fluffy cat bed, cuddled up and purring happily. Gizmo is talkative
and comes when you call his name and especially likes snoozing on your lap. Gizmo swats at
every toy when he is in the middle of his Indy 500 race through the house. For both these active
cats tunnels created a fun part of the daily romp, darting through them and scooting into a cubby
just to jump out and pounce on an unsuspecting sibling or shoe. Fuzzy mice or balls are what
they like to chase or carry around. Gizmo and Groot are active and full of love, easy to pick up
and cuddle, lap cats and pros at purring. They are ready to be adopted into their forever home.
One that will welcome them into the family and keep them safely indoors.
