Rescue:

Pet Patrol received a message from one of our volunteers who is very good at rescuing cats.
She has a humane trap in the back of her car at the ready, with treats, canned food and paper
plates to entice the cat to be rescued. She recently received a report about a beautiful mother
cat, Darla, living behind a large grocery store in a very busy part of the city. She had a little
grey tabby kitten with her, Daria, and it seemed to be just the two of them. We are very sure
there were other kittens as well but perhaps kind people scooped them up and took them
home. Darla was very hungry and it didn’t take long for her to go into the humane trap after the
food. Her kitten was so small that the volunteer was able to just pick her up and put her safely
in a carrier. When Darla came into our care she was very friendly but concerned for her kitten.
Daria’s concerns were short-lived as long as her mama was with her.

Personality:

Miss Darla will wiggle her way right into your heart!  From making biscuits to having evening zoomies she is living and loving her life.  Her favourite way to greet you when you get home is to run over to the entrance and then flop over so you can give her a belly rub.  She may startle a little bit with new sounds (like the evil vacuum)  that are loud and unpredictable, but otherwise she takes it all in.  Her coat is silky and has a beautiful sheen to it,.  It has been fun watching her discover toys; we don’t think she ever had any before. She particularly likes anything she can swat or chase, especially pens.  Darla is easy to pick up and will purr for you like a little tractor.  This sweet lady whose life was precarious at one point is ready to be adopted into her forever home.  One that will welcome her into the family and keep her safely indoors.
