Rescue:
The sanctuary is located outside the city limits, surrounded by farms and communities that do
things the old fashioned way. We received a phone call about a family who had too many
kittens and “was wondering if we wanted some”. Knowing that they were healthy cats, eating
well, and no parasites they would be a welcome addition to the sanctuary. Our volunteer arrived at the farm, the family was waiting for her with the family dog, too. Each child stood
proudly holding one. The biggest orange kitten got away but the one girl followed him into the
barn and brought him back. They were easy to put into the carrier, and once they arrived at
the sanctuary were curious although little concerned. In no time we were able to pick them up
and cradle them in our arms as the children had done with them since birth.
Personality:
Nellie has been described by her foster family as energetic, enjoys playing with her brothers
and toys of all kinds. She joins in on the Indy 500 kitten races through the room and up the cat
tree, happy when she reaches the top first and looks down at her siblings with excitement
of the game. Her favorite toys are the plastic springs, wand toys and anything that she can
chase, pounce on or chew. Nellie will often be found cuddled up to her people for a cat nap or
with a sibling, purring happily and stretching out with a happy kitty smile on her face. She is
fairly independent, but loves to be picked up and purrs quickly In the presence of people. This
little sweetie is ready to be adopted into her forever home with a sibling or playmate. One that
will welcome her into the family and keep her safely indoors
