Rescue:
The sanctuary is located outside the city limits, surrounded by farms and communities that do
things the old fashioned way. We received a phone call about a family who had too many
kittens and “was wondering if we wanted some”. Knowing that they were healthy cats, eating
well, and no parasites they would be a welcome addition to the sanctuary. Our volunteer arrived at the farm, the family was waiting for her with the family dog, too. Each child stood
proudly holding one each. The biggest orange kitten got away but the one girl followed him into the
barn and brought him back. They were easy to put into the carrier, and once they arrived at
the sanctuary were curious although little concerned. In no time we were able to pick them up
and cradle them in our arms as the children had done with them since birth.
Personality:
Nyssa is a cute, little fur ball. Her expressions are incredibly funny and adorable but she always manages to look grumpy in pictures, just like an angry bird. But don’t be fooled, her
temperament is exactly the opposite. She’s extremely calm and very affectionate and doesn’t
have many demands. She loves people and is used to children, cuddles up readily to you, and
likes being held and napping on your lap. Your presence alone will immediately trigger her
cute purring and happily kneading her little paws. She is quite unsure of the other pets in the
house, being more of a people cat, but will quickly get used to them if introduced properly.
Nyssa is very playful and give her a cardboard box and a ping pong ball and it creates such a
fun activity for her when she is not chasing toys, climbing the cat tree, or sunning in the window.
Nyssa is ready to be adopted into her forever home. One that will welcome her into the family
and keep her safely indoors.
