Rescue:
It was a little difficult to understand what the person on the other end of the phone line was
trying to say, their English was halted and they were unsure, but we heard cat and “found in the
garbage.” In following up on this lead, we got most of the story on little Moonie. She was
found in an apartment complex where there are many buildings and the huge garbage bins
were fenced in. A man had noticed this little cat squeezing under the fence and darting under
the bin, which was raised up off the ground. This is not a safe place for a cat when it comes
time for the bin to be picked up and dumped: she could very well drop 10 to 20 feet down or
end up in the dump truck and buried alive. Fearing for her well-being, he coaxed her out, and
this pretty girl came to him. He tucked her inside his coat as it was terribly cold and took
her into his apartment. He was considering keeping her, but his son was allergic. Eventually
he found Pet Petrol and little Moonie was soon on her way to the sanctuary
Personality:
Moonie is so sweet and so pretty. She is a petite little cat who is happy to be pet and cuddled.
She is easy to pick up and quite enjoys the company of people and being around them. She
has shown us that she is very playful and happy go lucky. All toys need to be tested, in her
opinion, and she happily chases anything that rolls and that she can pounce on. Moonie is
gentle and kind, she likes the other cats and new people. She will take a day or two to adjust
to the change in her environment, but once she has, she will show you the love. Moonie is
ready to be adopted into her forever home. One that will welcome her into the family and keep
her safely indoors.
