Rescue:
Amara is such a tiny cat she looks like she was barely nine months old when she arrived at
the sanctuary. She gave birth to three tortoiseshell and one black kitten, all girls, underneath the back deck of a man’s house. It was cluttered with rolled up carpet and flooring
and to rescue the kittens proved to be difficult as Amara would move them further in from
the opening. So time and patience was needed until the kittens were old enough to come
out and start eating. At four weeks old they appeared and the first kitten was easy to rescue and so was Mom as she can be picked up and carried. The other three were a little
more elusive; but within a few days they were able to be enticed out with food and into a
cat carrier and onto Pet Patrol‘s sanctuary. With her kittens old enough to eat on their own
Amara stepped up and took care of an orphaned litter of new born babies who were born in
a window well and raised them as if they were her own. Good girl!
Personality:
Amara is a gentle sweet girl who loves lots of pets and especially belly rubs. She’s most
comfortable when you sit on the floor at her level so she can lay beside you but with some
persuasion (treats) she will soon learn to jump up on the couch or bed for cuddles. She
likes to sit quietly looking out the window watching the activity of wild life and traffic, or curls
up for a nap basking in the warmth of the sunbeam. This petite little black cat craves
human companionship to be close by, her days of being alone are behind her and she is
happiest with her people. She is also fine with other passive cats. Amara is ready to be
adopted into her forever home. One that will welcome her into the family and keep her
safely indoors
