Rescue:

A woman who has helped rescue cats in our community for quite a few years, but is pretty
much retired, heard about this little kitten. In her small town there is a community garden.
People attend to it on a volunteer basis and share the crops with those who need it. One day
as someone was adding to the compost bin they discovered a little kitten partially covered by
the debris inside. He could hardly move. He was so tiny and his eyes were not open. the
person was quite surprised. Although not ideal, the compost bin provides shelter and warmth
for the wee babies, but the bacteria and mold are not ideal. Having her kittens in the bin just
tells us that the poor mom had no place else to have her litter. Someone placed the kitten in a
little towel in a plastic bag and tied it to the lid of the compost bin, then sat a bowl of cat food
on top. I’m sure they were trying to entice the mother to come back, as she was pretty skittish
and frightened by the people milling about. But how she was expected to rescue her kitten out
of a plastic bag is unknown. Immediately after another person discovered this dilemma
brought the kitten in and bottle fed him until bringing him to Pet Patrol.

Personality:

Illy is the little orphan kitten that was accepted into this litter without incident, with the momma
cat Casia. He is the smallest (youngest) but mighty and stands his ground with the other
bigger kittens, although they are gentle with him. Toys of all kinds are of interest to him especially dangling strings, crinkle balls and anything he can chase. The kittens have created
games of Tag and Hide and Seek, and Illy joins right in, but he also takes advantage of hiding
in small spaces only to pop out and startle the others, then the chase is on. He may have had
a rough start to his little life, but he is now so healthy and ready to be adopted into his forever
home. One that will welcome him into the family and keep him safely indoors.
