Rescue:
Akella, a friendly and affectionate cat, had put all her trust and faith in people to care for
her forever but instead she was abandoned. Mid summer a call came into Pet Patrol about
this mom and her five kittens explaining that the person who rented the country property
had created quite a colony of unaltered cats and then abruptly moved. She returned once
a week to put out food for them but it wasn’t enough. When the colony were finally discovered one kitten had passed and was found under the deck, another wee baby was rushed
to the vet but could not be saved and a third the next morning. The kittens had so many
parasites (which are blood sucking) that they became anemic, plus lack of food and water,
they didn’t stand a chance. Luckily, with lots of care while at the sanctuary two babies
survived and continue to be happy and healthy kittens and Akella the ever nurturing mom..
Personality:
This pretty grey girl is adorable and will be a great addition to a family home. She is very
friendly and happy to be pet and given attention. When you walk into the room she will
meow at you, to catch your attention, then stand up and saunter over for the pets and
purrs. Being picked up is a breeze and she is a wonderful lap cat. Akella has had a pretty
tough life that was limited in food, shelter and humane attention, but what she did receive
in her early life was positive and remains a part of her personality. She is very forgiving.
Akella is ready to be adopted into her forever home. One that will welcome her into the
family and keep her safely indoors.
