Rescue:
A man who lives in a small village and had contacted Pet Patrol a year ago about a lovely orange cat
in need of a home has now approached us again. This time, they mentioned there were “a few”
cats hanging around their home that they were feeding. The problem was, none of them were
spayed or neutered, mature males were spraying on things, kittens were being born outside, and
neighbours were complaining. Understandable. It started with Sparky coming into our care, a
friendly boy who likes everyone. Soon after that, there was a mom and five babies, and then
Sparky’s brother Flash. In total, we have taken in eleven cats and there are at least that many more
in the area. A few cats multiplied rather quickly! All have done well in our care, all have had their
vet care done, and all have thrived while living indoors.
Personality:
This sweet girl shared a very special bond with her Mom, Checkers, and hence she was given the
name Chess. She can be a bit shy at first, but just spend a little quiet time with her and you will win
her affection easily. Chess is a lap cat and loves attention. Even though she sometimes appears
reserved, she has a totally wild side, too. She’s a climber, so she loves to perch up somewhere high,
like the top of a cat tree. Her sweet and shy disposition is so nicely balanced with her love of attention and snuggles. If you are considering two kittens, she gets along really well with her sister,
Caramel. Chess is ready for her forever family to find her and keep her safely inside for years of
snuggles.
