Rescue:
Pretty little Opal was found at a rural grocery store. It sits on a very busy highway with a side road
beside it leading to miles and miles of open fields and farms. It was at the end of summer when the
weather was very hot, and her immediate environment was surrounded with ashphalt and concrete.
Undaunted, she was greeting people as they went into the store, looking up at them with pleading
eyes and prancing around their feet looking for a pet or, more importantly, food. A woman popping
into the store just for a loaf of bread took a shine and concern for Opal, and she inquired about her
to the staff on the register. Without hesitation, they asked “Is she bothering you? We can get rid of
her.” A little taken aback by that comment, the woman asked if anyone owned her, and was told that
the kitty had been there for about a day. Immediately, she called Pet Patrol and bundled Opal up in
a cardboard box from the store and brought her directly to the sanctuary where she settled right in.
Personality:
Opal is a doll. She is very friendly and loves her belly rubs and pets. She is not afraid to flop down
between your keyboard and computer screen, stretch out, and look up at you upside down, pulling
all the cute cards so she can be pet and give you lovely purrs in response. Not a shy bone in her
body, she is happy to greet new people, be picked up and carried, and is definitely a charmer with
her sweet disposition with everyone. Sometimes she likes a bit of social distance with the other
cats, but probably because there are so many of the sanctuary. However, as she has adjusted
more and more to her surroundings, she can be found sleeping on the same chair or couch as one
of her kitty roommates. Opal is ready to be adopted into her forever home one that will welcome
her into the family and keep her safely indoors.
