Rescue:
In late spring, a mama cat and her kittens were spotted living under a side yard shed in the middle
of the city. Once noticed, the family next door started leaving food out for them. Soon, the mama cat
—now named Jube Jube—began spending more time in their yard. As the kittens grew, the family
became concerned for their well being. Without being touched by people, they would become wild,
start breeding, become prey, or subjected to our freezing winter weather. When Jube Jube would
come to eat, she would stand at the far end of the deck and call to her kittens. They’d come trotting
up from their hiding spot to dine while she watched over them. This now content mother cat quickly
grew fond of the family, often meowing for attention and asking for pets when they were outside.
She even began spending nights on the mat at their back deck, waiting to greet them each morning
for breakfast. The family contacted Pet Patrol to ensure Jube Jube and her five kittens would be
safe. They were brought inside to be fostered, where they received the care and warmth they
needed.
Personality:
Jube Jube has come along way since her kittens were rescued. She was a little bit on guard and
concerned about people handling her babies. She taught them to be a little hissy, but when
separated from her, they quickly settled down. And so did she. She was definitely in mama mode
and just doing what any other cat would do to protect her babies. This pretty girl likes to be pet,
have her ears scratched, and to be brushed. She is playful and easygoing and enjoys the
company of people. She’s ready to be adopted into her forever home. One that will welcome her
into the family and keep her safely indoors
