Rescue:

Buddy’s story is one of resilience and hope. For two long years, this sweet boy lived outside,
enduring two harsh winters and two scorching summers. He was first noticed near a shed in a
backyard during the early days of winter. Living in the middle of the city, where indoor/outdoor cats
are occasionally seen, Buddy stood out as a stray in need of help. Food and water were put out for
him, but it took time for Buddy to trust the kind people who cared for him. From a distance, he
would talk to them—a sure sign he wasn’t feral, as truly wild cats don’t know how to ask for help.
Though interested in their house cat, Buddy was never allowed inside. Instead, they provided him
with a heated cat house and tried to make him as comfortable as possible. One day, they noticed
Buddy limping, and it was clear he needed medical attention. That’s when they reached out to Pet
Patrol, and Buddy was brought into care. Within just 24 hours, Buddy revealed his true personality
—a loving, affectionate, and grateful cat who was simply waiting for his chance at a better life.

Personality:

Buddy is the definition of a gentle giant. One of the biggest cats at the sanctuary, he also has the
kindest and sweetest heart. He’s a laidback boy who doesn’t get involved in cat squabbles—
Buddy simply walks away to find a peaceful spot to observe. While he’s still a little shy, he has a
special way of letting you know he wants attention—by staring at you with his big, hopeful eyes until
you come over for a snuggle. Once you start petting him, Buddy’s giant purr kicks in, a sound so
sweet and soothing it’s hard to believe it comes from such a big cat! He’ll nuzzle your hand for
more pets and, despite his lanky limbs, attempt his best flops to show how happy he is. If you place
him gently on your lap, he’ll sit there briefly, though he’s still figuring out how he feels about being
picked up. Despite his size, Buddy doesn’t roar—he lets out the tiniest, most adorable squeak. In a
quiet, patient home, Buddy will thrive, soaking up all the love he so deserves while remaining the
calm, gentle soul he’s meant to be. Welcomed into the family and kept safely indoors
