Rescue:

There was a colony of cats found behind a manufacturing building in town. The colony had been
cared for by the staff, who fed them daily and even provided insulated cat houses for them. The
nice thing was that they were all friendly, but the sad thing was the colony was growing. A company
memo was sent out, saying that they had consulted with the city shelter who said to stop feeding
the cats. That is sad and wrong. Rescuing them is the answer. Coyotes were also running through
the area often and sometimes within 10 feet of nearby humans. They definitely caused many of the
cats to disappear. The colony cats names all start with the letter K, and this includes Kona. Pet
Patrol volunteers and the woman who was feeding the cats braved the elements daily to
ensure this colony was looked after and brought into care. However, Kona disappeared before
being rescued. He reappeared locally nearly a year later! This brave little guy finally was brought to
the sanctuary and has quickly embraced the indoor life.

Personality:

Kona’s journey hasn’t been an easy one, but this sweet boy has shown just how resilient and loving
a cat can be. Kona is calm and easygoing, never asking for much—just a little love and the
occasional pet. His purr motor is always running, filling the room with his soft, soothing hum. Even
from across the room, he kneads the air and gazes at you hopefully, wishing for a cuddle. Simply
being near him brings him so much joy, and his affectionate nature will melt your heart. Kona is
searching for a calm, loving family where he can finally feel safe and cherished. He would thrive in
a home with another laidback cat to keep him company. If you’re looking for a gentle, loving
companion, Kona is ready to share his big heart with you, and be kept safely indoors.
