Rescue:
Rufus was born outdoors in a country neighborhood, where he spent his days playing and hiding
in the bushes with his siblings, huddling together each night to keep warm. As a summer kitten,
Rufus had never experienced a harsh winter, but with colder weather fast approaching, his first
encounter with the Canadian cold would be challenging. Thankfully, Rufus’s life took a brighter
turn before the weather changed—he was rescued from the outdoors just in time. Now safe and
warm, Rufus is ready to leave behind his rough beginnings and find a loving indoor home where
he’ll be cozy and cared for year round.
Personality:
Rufus is a charming young fellow who has adjusted wonderfully to indoor life after being rescued
from the streets of Elmira. It’s hard to imagine how this sweet and affectionate boy ended up
fending for himself, as he’s full of love and playfulness. His foster family adores him, and it’s easy to
see why—Rufus is a smaller cat with a kitten like energy that’s irresistible. Rufus enjoys the
company of other cats in his foster home and would likely do well with calm dogs after proper
introductions. He has a playful streak and loves a good game of “gallop around the bedroom,”
delighting his humans with his joyful antics. Despite his playful nature, Rufus has a quieter side and
enjoys rolling onto his back for belly rubs, gently holding your hand with his soft paw to encourage
more pets. While he’s incredibly friendly and loves cuddles, Rufus can still be a bit cautious with
sudden movements, a habit from his outdoor life. He’s happiest in a calm home with older children
and a peaceful atmosphere. Rufus is a sweet, loving cat who will bring warmth and joy to his
forever family. He is ready to be adopted into a home that will welcome him with love and keep him
safely indoors.
