Rescue:

While visiting her parents in the country, a woman was surprised when a big, confident tomcat
emerged from what the family called “the swamp”—a low lying area that is filled with water, felled trees,
tall grass, and no shortage of mosquitoes. At this time of year, it was quite dry, and this handsome,
orange tabby appeared, strutting up like he owned the place. The family had never seen him before
and had no idea where he came from. What they did notice immediately was his charming,
affectionate nature. He went straight to the young daughter, rubbed up against her legs, and let out
a heartfelt meow. They soon saw that one of his eyes was swollen, and despite never having had
cats before—and that the woman was highly allergic—they took him inside and made sure he was
safe. They cared for him, brought him to a local vet to treat his infected eye, and discovered he
wasn’t neutered or microchipped. Determined to find him help, they contacted a local cat rescue,
and soon enough, Garfield found his way to the sanctuary. His recovery has been smooth and
quick, and this charming “swamp cat” has proven himself to be a real sweetheart.

Personality:

Garfield is a purring machine, always ready to share his love and contentment with his people.
Adjusting beautifully to indoor life, you’d never guess he came from such a rough start. This sweet
boy is eager to both give and receive affection, happy to simply sit close to you, his gentle rumble
of purrs filling the room. Relaxed and content, Garfield exudes gratitude for his newfound safety
and comfort. The moment he hears your voice or senses your presence, his motor starts up, letting
you know just how much he adores his people. He’s the perfect companion for anyone looking for a
calm, loving cat who finds joy in life’s simplest pleasures—being close to those he loves. Garfield is
ready to be adopted into his forever home. One where he’ll be welcomed into the family and kept safely indoors.
