Rescue:
Akari was born on a farm where the cat population was kept under control by giving away the
unwanted kittens to other farms. With multiple litters born each year, the farm owners found
themselves struggling to even give them away for free. They did their best to provide food and
shelter, but it became clear that it was simply time to have the adults spayed or neutered and not
have to worry again. The farm owners reached out for help and Pet Patrol stepped in, enrolling
them in our barn cat program. This is where the cats are spayed or neutered, vaccinated, dewormed,
and even microchipped. Those that are feral are returned to the barn, and friendly cats like Akari
are provided the opportunity to find a forever home indoors. Now in Pet Patrol’s care, Akari has
embraced indoor life, enjoying warmth, safety, and affection. He’s ready for the next chapter—
finding a loving forever family where he will be treasured and adored.
Personality:
Akari is a wonderful cat he’s handsome, intelligent, and very sweet natured. When he first came
into the sanctuary, he was a bit skeptical. After all, he only knew barn life and nothing else up to
that point. But he started watching other cats from the safety of his little cage apartment. Over time,
and it didn’t take very long, he became more comfortable with his surroundings and started
accepting pets from volunteers. Since then, Akari has never looked back. He jumped right into
exploring the sanctuary and took great interest in learning about every toy at his disposal. He
enjoys the company of other cats and is no longer shy with new human faces. Akari is still getting
used to being picked up, but is showing steady improvement in not minding having his little paws
off the ground. This good looking boy is ready to be adopted into his forever home, one that will
welcome them into the family and keep them safely indoors.
