Rescue:
Pet Patrol received several messages from the friends and family of an elderly woman who lives in
quite a nice neighborhood. The houses are big, and the lawns lush with professional landscaping.
Around the back of her house was a deck with a wooden swing and a mom and babies. The
woman had noticed that the kittens were starting to crawl out from underneath, their curiosity
getting the better of them. She wasn’t sure what to do. The deck needed to be removed and rebuilt,
but they didn’t dare because of the kittens. Upon inspection, we saw that the deck was degrading. It
was easy to pull up the boards, but they crumbled in our hands. Willow and Woody were rescued
the first day but after three or four days, only mom arrived to eat. It was time to rescue her and have
her join her little ones. It was almost six days before she went into the humane trap and we were
pleasantly surprised to find that she was quite affectionate and friendly. Whisper was reunited with
her babies and two orphan kittens as well. All thrived in our care.
Personality:
Whisper has come a long way. Though timid at first, she’s quite the happy cat now that she’s
learned indoor life with humans is a life of luxury! She thoroughly enjoys lounging on cozy couches
and beds, soaking up whatever sunrays she can find. Whisper also has bursts of playfulness, and
will toss a toy between herself and some of the younger kittens. But for the most part, she’s big on
relaxation and would do well in a quieter home without children. Affection does need to be on her
terms, though when she hears her name, she perks up, immediately happy for some head
scritches. Whisper is also a cat’s cat. She’s loved meeting other rescue kitties, both in foster and at
the sanctuary. She’s especially fond of her best friends Eddie and Cheeto. She’d be very happy to
be adopted into a family with them or one with another adult cat she can cuddle with. All in all, this
beautiful girl is ready for a forever home that will keep her safely indoors and allow her to continue
finding her confidence.
