Rescue:
Niya’s start to her life was horrible. A woman had heard about a family who had a number of cats in
their home with kittens to give away. It was not a nice home, dysfunctional and accurately
described as a hoarders home in ill repair. There are years of grim on the doors and walls where
hands had touched, floors were filthy with faeces and dirt. There were only pathways through the
home and on either side was stuff, garbage, things piled and left to sit for ages. The litter box was
never cleaned. They would put the kittens in a carrier over night so that they would not run around
and wake them up. But let’s think about this if the house is in deplorable shape, that carrier was
not cleaned either, and the kittens sat in their own faeces and urine every night. This created
horrendous sores on their bellies and feet. Reports have been made to try and clear up the
situation but help is slow. We are very happy to have rescued many cats and this sweet girl from
that home and all have recovered from their injuries.
Personality:
Niya is a mix of playful energy and quiet observation, balancing her adventurous side with a love
for perching beside (or on top of) her favorite people. She’s naturally curious and confident, always
ready to explore new places and meet new faces. Strings and chase games are among her favorite
pastimes, and she’s never one to turn down a fun wrestling match with her foster siblings. Though
independent at times, Niya adores human attention. If she wants to be held and if you don’t pick her
up, she’ll simply climb up herself! She would thrive in a home with another energetic cat who can
be her playmate and cuddle companion, helping her continue to grow into the affectionate, happy
cat she’s meant to be. Niya is ready to be adopted into her forever home. One that will welcome her
into the family and keep her safely indoors with a playmate.
